Do you Have a Bucket List? - Painting & Drawing Tips

A Bucket List is a very Powerful thing for an Artist.
It can be a Game Changer.
Yes that's me, on a Game Drive at Kruger Reserve, South Africa

Fulfilling that Dream can recharge your creativity and jump start new adventures on your Creative Journey.

A Bucket List doesn't have to be 'a trip to the moon'.  It can be things like, attend a certain gallery, take a special workshop, trying a new experience. . . Have you thought about what to put on your list?  Think big and think small.  One never knows when an opportunity will arise.
Yes this is the top of an Ant Hill!!

I just returned from a special trip.  It was on my Bucket List.  It was a Biggy. I went to South Africa and visited the animal reserves.  As a wildlife artist, I have certainly gone to zoos and taken tons of pictures of animals.  But, seeing animals in their native habitat living their life was a mind-blowing experience.
This fellow came to snack on the tree by our cabin

With the help of our guides, I certainly gained a greater understanding how intertwined nature is. An elephant knocks over a tree to chew on the inner bark. Now browsing animals like giraffe and antelope can feed on the leaves.  Smaller animals like hares and porcupines can nibble on the roots and bark.  Insects rush to feed on the softer wood.  Birds come for the insects and to perch.  All this activity attracts the lions, leopards and wild dogs.  This one elephant and the tree is an ecosystem in itself!

I thought I understood the the way the Food Chain worked, but I had no idea, it could be like that.

Seeing the Food Chain come to life in so many different ways was way beyond an eye opening experience. I felt it to my core.   I realized just how vulnerability the animal world was in these changing times.
I feel in love with the Giraffes

I really felt the importance of my role as a wildlife artist.  It brought home to me how important it is to keep the awareness alive, animals are important. Not just the lions in Africa but the birds and animals here in my own backyard.  My art is sharing not only the beauty of animals but also their habitat. It heightening the awareness of how vulnerable wildlife is with all the changes to our environment.
This fellow was not happy we were so close. He left.

My trip has really given me a stronger sense of purpose for my work. It has really awaken my curiosity and inspired me to move forward with intention.
That's me, Sketching the Cape of Good Hope, the southern tip of Africa!!!
