Had to Share Red - she is just too beautiful

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY
RED - 16 x 20  Graphite Sold

Just before we left on our trip I finished up Red and sent her home.   I was really pleased with her.
When we did the photo shoot and we got great pictures of her standing, sitting, walking and gazing about. She was very patient with us, letting us follow her around and snap away.  Then she heard a noise in the next field and she was gone!!  We called and after a bit she came running back.  I quickly lined up my camera and I knew I had my shot.
Red is a Rhodesian Ridgeback in her prime, what a beautiful dog and a great companion.  It was a real privilege and a joy to draw her. Enjoy!!

If you have a picture of your best friend you would like me to draw just drop me line, I would love to work up a picture for you.

The Grand Canyon is REALLY GRAND!!!

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY

Steve and I in our Official Grand Canyon Picture

We just got back from a great trip to the Grand Canyon, we flew down to Vegas, rented a car and then drove around.  It was a really wonderful trip. We saw lots of new things, loved the Canyon, fell deeply in love with Sedona, enjoyed the lovely warm weather and then after 2 weeks we headed home.

This was definitely the highlight of our trip, rafting 40 miles on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon!

OAK CREEK CANYON - 5 X 7
Who would have thought there would be such beautiful lush green places in Arizona?  Yes I tried my hand at a little painting.

COFFEE POT ROCK - 5 X 7
My first attempt at painting the overwhelming scenery in Sedona. This was a challenge in some many ways: hot winds dry your paint as soon as you mix them; watching for bugs, after I saw a display of the spiders there I was a little leery; overwhelming scenery to condense onto my little page.  It was really fun trying but as I said, challenging!

CATHEDRAL HILL - 4 X 5.5
Yes, I even tried a quick sketch in my journal while we wondered around Red Rock Park.  Not bad for 15 minutes work!
We had a great trip but it is nice to be home, even if it is much cooler and damper here!!

Plein Air – Painting and Drawing Outdoors is fun in this weather!!

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY

Can you believe it, 30 degrees on May 5th and again today!!! We never had weather like this last spring!  We have been eating, relaxing and playing outside, it is wonderful.  Yet I feel a little guilty when I see the weather in other parts of Canada.  We are very fortunate.
Tulips in the Garden -  20 minute sketch on painted paper
Good weather means painting and drawing outdoors, I just finished this quick sketch of my tulips, they are so pretty and they will soon be gone.   I am also preparing for a Free Demo tomorrow, Tuesday, May 7 at Opus Arts Supplies, Langley Store, 10-noon – Capture the Moment, Painting Outdoors with Wendy Mould, AFCA.  Just call the store to register 604-533-0601, it’s not too late if you would like to join us, they will do an afternoon session if they get too many people.  For the demo I will be talking about little quick projects like the tulips and longer more involved finished pieces like Tidal Pools, below.  Come join in the fun.
Tidal Pool - 5 x 7, watercolour, $165 framed.
If you can't make the demo and would like to learn more about Plein Air work, I will be offering private/semi-private outings to get your feet wet.  We will do a 1 hour orientation session at my studio then plan a 5 hour painting day, lots of fun and a really great experience.  Email me to book your Outdoor Adventure.
