A SUNNY FACE TO WELCOME YOU TO MAUI - 5 X 7
Yes,  I started the year off with a bang, my husband and I went to Maui, Hawaii for the first part of January and had some fun in the sun!!

LIFE ON THE BEACH - 5 x 7

It was so nice to leave our gray days, I must admit we have had very little snow or really cold weather but the gray days can be a bit much at times.  The weather in Maui was wonderful, sunny warm, not too hot, the beaches were soft sand, with lovely breakers just right for me to boogie board and lots of great galleries to visit when we needed a break from the sun.  I painted lots and of course everything is now full of sand but it was great.
Not me with the board but I did get a few good rides!! - 3 x 4

OUR CONDO, WE WERE IN THE BOTTOM UNIT - 5 X 7

HARD AT WORK ON THE BEACH

My most prize possession was a little free kit I got from North Lights with a book order, I could keep my paints, brushes, supplies and a dozen 5 x 7 sheets of watercolour paper in this neat little container.  I took it everywhere.
ROCKY POINT - 5 X 7
I am now hard at work on my Snowy Owl and I will post her soon!!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY
THE WATER DRAGON - 13 X 21 Available
Yes this is the Year of the Dragon, the Water Dragon specifically and this only happens every 60 years so this is a special year.  It is a year of courage, prosperity, love and cooperation.  To honor this day I have my fellow artist Becky McMahon’s Water Dragon which she has painted specifically for this New Year and has graciously allowed me to post today.  According to Sung dynasty manuscripts, the Dragon is described as having the "head of an ox or donkey, eyes of a shrimp, horns of a deer, body of a serpent covered with fish scales, and a feet of a phoenix," and it usually clutches a pearl, meant to symbolize its supernatural powers.  I think her dragon has this and more.  If you would like to see the original it is at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Gardens in Vancouver, BC for the next six weeks.  To see more of her work www.triskeltreecreations.com
We have just returned from a wonderful trip in the sun, Hawaii and I have lots of new things to share in my upcoming posts.  Until then “Happy New Year” and remember to wear red, look for songbirds and don’t wash your hair on  Chinese New Year’s Day.
